Chapter 13- plans

Adhir sat at the table, his eyes narrowed as he stared at the screen. He leaned forward, barely containing his anger. “It’s him. After ten long years, he finally crawls out of his hole.”

Kerem, sitting beside him, tapped a few keys on the computer. The image on the screen sharpened, showing a clear view of the man they had been hunting. “He’s gotten too confident. He thinks he’s untouchable. It’s only a matter of time before he messes up completely.”

Adhir’s gaze didn’t leave the screen. “Or maybe he’s playing us. Ten years of hiding, and now he walks into a hotel like it’s nothing?”

Kerem looked at Adhir, his brow furrowing. “Do you think he knows we’re closing in on him?”

Adhir smirked, a dark glint in his eyes. “Does it matter? If he knows, he’ll expect us. And I plan on giving him a welcome he won’t forget.”

Kerem brought up a map on the screen. He traced Vyom’s movements through the city, his fingers moving swiftly as the monitor flickered with the satellite feed. “He’s heading west, possibly toward the harbor. Maybe he’s planning to escape.”

Adhir shook his head, his mind already ahead of the game. “No. After staying hidden for so long, he’s got something planned. He wouldn’t come out now without a reason.”

Suddenly, the radio crackled to life, and an agent’s voice broke the tense silence. “Raichand, we have visual confirmation. The subject is entering a restricted area near the harbor. And... he’s not alone.”

Adhir’s jaw tightened, and his grip on the edge of the table became vice-like. The word "alone" didn’t just mean company in his world—it meant trouble. “Who’s with him?” Adhir’s voice was calm, but the storm inside him was building.

Kerem’s voice was low, filled with caution. “Do you think Vedang has been involved all along?”

Adhir didn’t answer right away. His eyes fixed on the screen, his mind racing. Betrayal hit him like a cold wave, making his heart pound harder. “So, he’s been hiding in the shadows, pulling strings, while we’ve been chasing ghosts...” His voice was thick with anger.

Kerem’s voice was softer now. “If it’s true, everything changes. Family... involved with the man who killed ours. If Vedang is working with Vyom, they must be planning something huge.”

Adhir’s eyes were locked on the screen, his mind working through the possibilities. He watched as Vyom’s figure disappeared behind a large iron gate, followed closely by a tall man with a familiar walk. His pulse quickened. Fury and determination clashed in his chest.

Kerem’s voice brought him back to the moment. “What’s the plan? Do we go after them now?”

Adhir paused, thinking carefully. His voice was cold when he finally spoke. “No. We follow them. I want to know where they’re going and what they’re planning.”

Just as Adhir finished speaking, the screens flickered and the live feeds went dark. Kerem immediately began typing furiously, trying to regain the connection. “What’s going on? We’re losing the feed—someone’s cutting us off!”

The lights in the warehouse flickered, casting long shadows. An eerie silence filled the room, and Adhir and Kerem exchanged a tense glance. They realized, with growing dread, that Vyom might know they were watching him. A single red light blinked on one of the remaining screens, flashing like a warning.

Kerem’s voice shook slightly as he spoke. “They’ve found us. We’re exposed.”

A single message appeared on the last active screen: “You’re next, Raichand.”

Adhir’s hands clenched at his sides. His heart raced with the weight of the message. It was clear now: the game had just changed. It wasn’t just Vyom they were chasing anymore. His own blood, Vedang, was part of it. And that made everything personal.

Adhir whispered to himself, his voice filled with determination. “This isn’t over. Not yet.”
